Living Again

Living Again

The day was extraordinary
Family and friends forming a bond
Long broken by time and space
Troubles and tribulations
Forged simple and enjoyable gatherings.

Listening and learning about each other
Imparted a sense of belonging
Only emotion can lend such power
To redraw the picture
As ingredients of family reunite.

There is the warning of depression
Increasing its unpleasant presence
I could provide some healing words
Lifting the self of someone I love
Family structures form to defeat despair.

There is much left to accomplish
As friendships blossom
Families unite
And accepts new companions
Eager to see loved ones happy.

There is someone who listens
Raising the relationship reveals results
New love can be intoxicating
When forgotten sensations return
Companionship and friendship is the healer.

Thoughts and butterflies fuse
Cutting depressed and chilly senses
To rise above the loneliness
And start afresh.

Perhaps

Perhaps

One day at a time
Everyone deserves a chance
To be free of guilt and shame
To be independent
To live their lives
As they see fit.

We are in a constant state of change
To find stability
We need the comfort of friendship
To find that friendship is easy
To love and dedicate takes time
And the rewards are endless.

I have found that friend
She is vivacious and fluent
Happiness and butterflies
Is the calm of the day
Tranquility and harmony
Arrive as the days connect.

The bond is strong now
And growing fiercer
We have a familiar attitude
To be companions
To live as we see fit
With constant contact.

A Child's Gift

A Child’s Gift

There exists something special
Between a parent and child
That bears neither grudge nor malice
This singular experience
Is remarkable in its complexity
Yet so simple in its love.

The vision of the child
Is often what the parent sees
When conversations are dreams
And a revelation is imagination
Of ideas and predictions
That only a child can foresee.

Whether young or adult
Children can choose to mimic
Lives of the parents
But to choose their own path
Requires a will and strong belief
That they are individuals.

We have such children
Who will be the best they can
So although parents fail
Through being themselves
These children will succeed
In lives of their making.

Strong and opinionated
Is the prophecy of every parent
To give the child the greatest gift
To live your life as you see fit
Beat the struggles and conquer the hurdles
For you have the power to succeed.

Moving On

Moving On

The endless wait
The tiresome worrying
The knots in my abdomen
Tell a story of suffering.

The sorry saga
The violent scene
The depravity
Tell a story of betrayal.

The constant lies
The lonely nights
The eventual suspicion
Tell a story of disloyalty.

We tread this path
Over and over again
Yet we never learn
From our mistakes.

Families are broken
Loved ones are hurt
Yet we continue on this journey
Leaving mayhem in our wake.

We have no conscience
We have no principles
We have no right
To destroy what we have built.

The time has come to leave
This obtuse relationship
To start a new life
With someone who cares.

New beginnings

New Beginnings

Companionship and friendship
In a comely attire
Presumes some fetching pleasantness
We wait barely breathing
For conversation enchanting
An encounter to remember

For we do not forget
Experiences and thoughts
Of stormy days and nights
Once we were
Now we are not
How could this occur?

A pink dress
An angelic face
A friendly demeanour
An enjoyable voice
An amusing attitude
Lifts the cloudiness

Time passed
As exchanges caused laughter
I wished there was more
As loneliness turned to friendly
We needed friendship
To remind us that we care

I am grateful
For your company
You have given me a will to survive
To beat the impending depression
That only broken love can base.

Alternate Paths

Alternate Paths

Feelings of loneliness
Interspersed with confidence and self esteem
At its lowest level
Is the outcome
Of trust and freedom
That betrayal enjoys

Someone said trust is learned
And once broken is never earned
We live in a world of constant flux
Where relationships are fleeting
And lifelong commitments
Are only words uttered?

Please be patient
As loneliness subsides
And time heals broken lives
Confidence returns
And self esteem restores
Levels beyond expectation

Let’s enjoy partners
Who will not betray or lie
Where trust is not wanting
And friendship and love
Companionship and caring
Is securely entrenched

I will learn to live
With this in mind
As I need to be reminded
That the cost of broken trust
Immeasurable as it may seem
Has another path.

Friendship

Friendship

The evening laughter
The good food
The excellent banter
Made children happy

This family scene
Missing a member
Made young hearts
Fill with quiet sorrow.

There was emptiness
Where friendship should reside
Yet it was too early
To bridge the gaping hole.

We dined and spoke
Of trivial and serious scenes
Until we remembered
A missing being.

One day at a time
Makes broken hearts heal
For friendship and love
Is not now ideal.

There was a time
When deception and betrayal
Was the order of the day
But friendship can mend any broken ways.

We can be true friends
It is a start
To a life of laughter
And two to be true.

Communication

Communication

I miss her terribly
Circumstances are not ideal
My heart aches
My mind wanders
I cannot function.

There was a connection
Broken by communication
Not ideal
Once there was love
Now there is a void.

To tell her I love her
Will be the answer
But there is no listening
As hurdles and emotion
Block the path to understanding.

There was something
A strange ignition
Caused by a wanton spark
But caught in a web of ice
The spark fizzled out.

There was another
Yet too hard to break
That caused a rift
A chasm, an uncrossed valley
To a life of happiness.

The Promise

The Promise

Too often we forget
That we were happy some days
And too often we forget
The negative influences
That ruin our lives.

We do not want to be told
That we can compromise
And we do not want to be told
That we are wrong
Our lives become lonely.

We are ready to accept bad advice
From people with hidden motives
But good advice from loved ones
Are often discarded
We become filled with guilt and sorrow.

Too often we remember
The terrible things we endured
And too often we let it run our lives
We can forgive and forget
Else we live in a vacuum.

Let’s live in harmony
Let negative influences fall
For positive thoughts and actions
Will fill the space
Within our hearts.
